Douglas Higgins, MEng - Founder
The company was founded by Doug following a successful undergraduate design project that led to some exciting early concepts. Doug previously played rugby for the Worcester Warriors Academy before studying mechanical engineering at Imperial College where he captained the university 1st XV. Following success as a finalist with SpineStrength in the Imperial University Business Challenge, Doug invested his own money into the company and now provides the main driving force behind the SpineStrength brand.
James King - Director
James has previously worked at KPMG and a number of SMEs and knows what it takes keep a business going. As managing director of FIG (www.findinvestgrow.com) he was responsible for raising additional capital for the company and helping form a number of strategic alliances. James has taken a position on the board to ensure the company runs smoothly and achieves its goal of ensuring participation in high-risk sports is as safe and enjoyable as possible for everyone.
Andy Turner - Design Consultant
Andy has been involved in the development of commercial strength training equipment for over 15 years. Andy has designed equipment that is used by a number of professional sports teams with equipment recently installed at the Chelsea FC and Harlequins RFC fitness facilities. Originally trained in the steel engineering/fabrication sector, Andy has a degree in design engineering and has also been a competing power lifter. With Andy's experience our products are designed and manufactured according to the latest European Union safety standard BSEN957 at the 12,000 sq.ft LeisureLines factory in Hinckley, Leicestershire.
Dr Alison McGregor PhD, MSc, MCSP - Spinal Consultant
Dr McGregor is professor of musculoskeletal biodynamics at the Imperial College Faculty of Medicine where she heads up the Biodynamics laboratory. Performing research into the performance of elite athletes with a particular focus on the spine, Dr McGregor has published a number of papers on spinal motion and strength in sports including rehabilitation following injury and has presented on these topics at a number of medical conferences. Dr Mcgregor has a wealth of experience and has had a key input during the development stages of the SpineStrength products.
